Updated Basketball Goal Policy

During the Town Hall Meeting and subsequent Open Board Meeting held on 9/12/24, the following updated policy was adopted via unanimous vote.  This policy will replace the policy in the CCRs.

The board thanks the homeowners who brought their concerns about the previous policy to the board, as well as all of the members who attended the meeting!

SECTION I. PERMANENT AND PORTABLE BASKETBALL GOALS

Basketball goals are permitted only in accordance with this rule. A goal must be properly maintained and painted, with the net in good repair. A goal must be mounted on a black, silver or grey metal pole, either permanently installed in the ground or in a factory weighted base for a portable goal.

For a portable goal, only the factory weighted base may be used as ballast. Sandbags, cement blocks or other alternate forms of ballast must not be placed on top of the factory base.

A goal permanently installed in the ground, including one in the back yard, must be approved by the ACC prior to being installed.

A portable goal is considered stored any time it is not in actual use. A portable goal stored in the back yard must be out of view of the street, either upright or laying down, and must not be stored in any setback area of the lot. A portable goal in use in the back yard may be visible from the street, but only while in use.

It is understood that if a portable goal is located off the driveway on grass, it will kill the grass underneath in a very short time. In this event, the goal must either be moved from the temporary location before the grass is affected or left in one place to conceal the dead spot or, if the goal is moved after killing the grass, the resulting dead spot must be repaired immediately by replanting sod.
